Mandarino is not exactly a cafe just as McDonalds is not exactly a restaurant. But they make great espresso and they are inexpensive. They are across the street from both the Attalos and the Cecil hotels so if you are in that part of Athens it is pretty convenient. The seats are right on the street so you get a real feel for Athinas street whch is one of the most lively and interesting streets in Athens. They bake their own cakes, tiropitas, pizzas and have really good spanakopitas. Get there early and get them hot from the oven. Mandarino despite its Coney-Island appearance just might have the best espresso in Athens.
